Walworth Pond Cabin is a historic woodland retreat situated on 11 acres generously donated to the Arc of Appalachia by the Walworth family. The cabin lies between the Highlands Nature Sanctuary and Fort Hill, in a quiet rural neighborhood just a few miles south of the Sanctuary West Trailhead. Surrounded by beautiful woodlands and a small pond, the cabin offers a peaceful escape from everyday life.
The cabin has been carefully restored and updated into an overnight retreat center, offering guests a rare opportunity to unplug and recharge with little to no connectivity. Walworth Pond Cabin includes one bedroom with a queen-size bed, sleeping two guests. A daybed with a trundle is available in the living room if additional sleeping space is needed. The cabin also features a small sitting area, a kitchenette, and a one bathroom. Outside, guests can enjoy tranquil views of the pond and the quiet solitude of the property.
It is speculated that the cabin was once occupied by the Melungeons, an intriguing mixed-race community that historically lived in this region and left behind a fascinating cultural legacy. Deeper Historical Information.
